She initially studied to become a nurse and was set to work in a hospital when the pandemic caused widespread shutdowns. Pivoting her career, she began working with adults in an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) before transitioning to case management with Honor Health. Though she found her work rewarding, Monica felt a calling to help children and eventually moved to a behavioral health agency focused on childcare. Now, at Red Mountain Behavioral Health Services, Monica is passionate about making a positive impact in children's lives, ensuring they have the right support to grow up healthy, happy, and with people they can count on. In her personal life, Monica enjoys spending time with her husband, three stepsons, and her dog, Oreo. A sports enthusiast, she has played soccer for 20 years, learning valuable life lessons about teamwork, resilience, and responsibility. She also loves hiking and traveling, with dreams of hiking the Inca trail to Machu Picchu and swimming with sharks off Catalina Island. During her internship, she collaborated with other integrated healthcare professionals to create recovery plans for clients, developed and facilitated coping skills groups, and honed her case management abilities.
