My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Justice Studies from Arizona State University and a Masters in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University. I joined the military after I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in hopes of someday becoming a Police Officer. I later worked as a Correctional Officer for six years with the state of Arizona. After working in the prison for six years, I realized change does not occur behind bars. I then returned to school and obtained my Master’s Degree in Counseling. In my work I attempt to build rapport with clients by allowing them time to become comfortable with myself and the nature of counseling. I have worked in inpatient, outpatient, and community-based settings. My counseling interventions are Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client-Centered therapy, Strength based, and solution-focused therapy. My hope, as a Clinician, is to be able to empower and instill hope with my clients so they can heal and have a healthier relationship with themselves and their loved ones.
